The only powered models that may be flown on any of the Club’s sites are power assisted gliders. A power assisted glider is defined as an aircraft which has all the characteristics of a true glider but may be equipped with a motor and folding propeller for intermittent use in gaining and maintaining altitude when slope lift is insufficient. June 22nd comp
Competition Many thanks to all that braved the 30 - 40 mph winds to try and hold a comp, It was to dangerous to try and race as we could not hear one anaother for the wind so a Limbo was set up to one side of the slope and several members braved the elements and had a go.

Mark O'conner was the winner on the day with 4 passes under the limbo

well done to Mark.

After about 1 hour it was decided the wind was to strong to continue with a comp and sport flying took over.

three pictures have been posted so far in the 2008 comps gallery thanks to Dave Wheeler for taking them.

Sundays F3F Comp 18th MAY 2008 report
Competition The comp was held on our Easterly slope @ Elkstone, the wind was not directly on the slope there was at times quite a lot of north init.

Various models were used during the racing (Easy glider/halfpipe/Sting/Javelin/Adrenalin/Dragon/Mini Dragon/Fastback/ Halloween /Trinity.

Any way with 9 competitors turning out the comp got under way, 3 rounds were completed during the day, Scot Ravenscroft won the 1st round with a blistering wait for it 60 second run flying a Trinity,

Second round was won by Ivan Bradbury flying a Dragon, again during the round the wind was to say the least changable with some thermic activity to complete sink,

The 3rd round was won this time by Mark Ollier flying a Sting, with Ivan Bradbury hot on his tail but Scott flew a realy slow round with some lovely sink and demonstrated how to fly slowlywith a big model.

Again times were very variable from 64 seconds to 170 seconds, but as the comp was advertised it was the taking part and enjoying the banter like "push out to find the lift " " you could walk faster".

New comer to the club and comp was Dave Wheeler who flew his easy glider and managed to complete the race every time.
Overal finishing positions were :

1st Mark Ollier / Joint 2nd Ivan Bradbury - Scott Ravenscroft / 3rd Graham Gibbons / 4th John Day / 5th Ian Buckley / 6th Dave Wheeler / 7th Adrian Beale / 8th Kieth Rathbone.

At the end of the comp everyone had a chance to win by taking a parcel from the lucky dip bag, with prizes from the good to tne Naff, 8th place man Adrian won a very nice Lipo battery checker while overal winner Mark Ollier won the naff servo lead safety holders "ha ha ha" but as we say its the taking part not the winning, ( I still think Ivan fixed the lucky Dip).

Lets hope the next comp is as much fun.

Mark Ollier (comp sec)
Many thanks to all that turned out and had an enjoyable time.
